Name of your website?Cookies by Leah
Your name?
Leona Slagle
Your Location (city, etc)
Phoenix
Please give us a short summary of your website?
All kinds of baked goods, all my own creations, no books no family recipes, I make them up as I go. Everyone loves them I have been selling all over the U.S for the last 7 months I let you create you own cookies if you wish just tell me what you want in them and I make it that way just for you.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
My love to bake and create I have a very wild imagination and some of my recipes show it. But I have had 100% pefect feedback since I started.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
It was crafts crocheting to be exact and I can not remember how long ago but it has been awhile it was with Homestead but did not sell very good so I went to the baking business and love it.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
My name and I make cookies very simple and easy to remember
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
Lots of pictures lots of sales good feedback previous sales on ebay, now on alsoshop.com and yourhighbid.com besides my personal website.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I am retired so this is really just for fun and a little pocket money I have trouble walking so I retired early I love making people happy and what makes people more happy than food especially desserts.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
I have not been it it long enough to find that out the crocheting was a failure because I could not get people to pay the price I needed to get for the work I put it the items baking is quick and fun and you can eat it not look at or or wear it.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
More ovens more advertisments, more equipment enlarge my kitchen space a little.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
I don't plan on letting it get much bigger than it is I am already 62 so I do not want to go into it full time.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
the extra money to seal up the items so they get to their destination in perfect shape like zip lock bags tape lables. No headaches I have too much fun doing it.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Making something that everyone would order. Also being able to make larger items like cakes and be able to ship them. Have not figured it out as of yet.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Business cards, sales, and most definitely word of mouth
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It is about what I expected. I can take vacations when I want with my husband all I have to do is post it that I won't be baking for a week or two and they don't order. I have my special customers and they know when I am baking and when I am not.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
I may not keep the website too much longer I have better luck selling on the two smaller sites than the godaddy site. I figured with the name behind it my sales would increase but they haven't
