William's Post on Food Manners while a bit humor did hit upon a few good points and I think he missed a couple as well.
You need to chew and sallow more before taking a drink
Do not make loud noises while chewing
First, I remember the Striking Viking's commentary about his motorcycle ride through Central and South America. The high point (which I can't find one his web site now) was when he stoped at a Chinese Restaurant in Costa Rica and while trying enjoy his dinner was nearly basted out of his seat when the owner let out a humongous fart...
William missed what should be the first rule of good table manners. Don't fart. Don't fart if it makes noise. Don't fart if it smells. Don't fart if it is human nature to fart. That is rule #1. Don't forget it.
And while's we talking about Costa Rica it is also bad manners to scapre the food off a plate into the pot... if people can see you do it... that is for restaurants, you can do what you like in your own home!
