Name of your website?Becky Cooks
Your name?
Becky Clark
Your Location (city, etc)
Miami Beach
Please give us a short summary of your website?
Becky Cooks is a place where people can learn about my Background as a Chef and where I also will be giving out some of my recipes and have instructional videos on some cooking techniques.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
The web is a great way to reach my customers, so they can learn a lot about me and what I can do for people. I am still amazed at how many people have already found my new business and the excitement it has generated.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
I launched my first website Sept 2007 www.beckycooks.com is my first site.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
My name is Becky and I cook.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
I offer private cooking lessons, which I really enjoy teaching and my students really get a lot out of.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
My goal is to be one of Miami's premier personal chefs.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
It has been absolutly amazing. A website called the Daily Candy found my site and wrote a story (http://www.dailycandy.com/miami/article/33284/Spoon+Us) which has really given me a lot of visibility in a short period of time.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Not a lot really. Maybe make the design more flashy, and add some more videos, but time is the real issue not budget.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
I don't think a personal chef site will get to big. If so maybe I will hire another chef.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Not many. I love to cook and the only unexpected variable is what the kitchen is like where I work.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Getting use to the culture in Miami.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
PR, and Google Adwords
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I didn't think I would get a lot of hits so quickly
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
The site has been up for 2 months. I hope to keep it open forever. :)
Has anyone helped you with your site
Yes my Brother Greg runs a web design, PR, and consulting firm called Ideas Miami http://www.ideasmiami.net that has really helped the site a lot.
