Rock Recipes Interview

By Interviewer at 10/10/07 13:04

Name of your website?

Rock Recipes

Your name?

Le Chef Secret

Your Location (city, etc)

St.. John's

Please give us a short summary of your website?

I've spent many years developing and adapting recipes and here you will find some traditional favorites as well as my own adaptations of recipes to add a Newfoundland twist. Others are just great recipes, no matter where they came from but they have all made repeated appearances in my Newfoundland kitchen. I have gotten into the habit of photographing the completed recipes and will continue to do so as I add to this blog. I have an extensive catalogue of recipes so requests are welcome. Check back often as new recipes are being added on a continuous basis.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

Loads of requests for recipes from friends and family.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

In September of 2007.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Alliteration is my friend. ;)

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

The combination of traditional recipes, updated traditional recipes, variation of traditional recipes and just good recipes.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Not really sure. A cookbook at aome point is something I am being encouraged to do.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

It's just one of my hobbies.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Too many ways to mention. i'm really good at spending other people's money.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

I've got loads of new stuff in reserve. I think I'd manage. ;)

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Mostly just site promotion. I don't know much about that.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Writing. Getting what has been in my head for years on an actual page and making it understandable.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Too new to tell. I'd say word of mouth at this point.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I'm surprised about the number od international visits to the site. Newfoundlanders are everywhere.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

It's quite new. As long as it continues to be used, I'll keep it up.

What is your website address?
