Flavored Gourmet Popcorn Interview

By Interviewer at 12/02/07 01:46

Name of your website?

Flavored Gourmet Popcorn

Your name?

Larry

Your Location (city, etc)

Pendleton

Please give us a short summary of your website?

We feature over 50 flavors of gourmet popcorn made with our one of a kind "stickyless" process. We ship popcorn anywhere in the USA.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

We wanted to expand our market and get our product in front of a larger audience.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

We felt the name should easily let customers know what product we are selling.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

Our popcorn is made with a process we call "stickyless". Unlike other flavored popcorn, ours does not stick to your teeth or the roof of your mouth. We sell our popcorn without add-ons. You don't have to buy tins or gift baskets to get our flavored popcorn. You can order as much or as little as you like.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Our goal is to sell enough popcorn so as to be able to do only popcorn and not have to have second jobs.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

So far, we have spent countless hours building and promoting our website. This is our second year and we are just now beginning to sell enough to make a profit.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

The short answer is yes. We have capacity now to more than triple our output if the sales volume warranted it and we have the capital to purchase more equipment as needed.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Our biggest headache and costs have been our employees. We have had some trouble in finding the right people with the work ethic and drive to do the job.

What has been your biggest challenge?

The biggest challenge was designing the site itself and getting all the modules to work together. It was hard to design to allow online purchases.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Our most successful promotion has been manually adding our site to as many directories and press releases as possible.

What is your website address?

Very interesting and informative. I ordered some of your popcorn and it was fantastic. Count me as a permanent customer.
