Please describe your blog
This is an assortment of recipes, food commentary, cookbook reviews, product reviews and just plain life "stuff".
Describe the main purpose of your blogging, what are you trying to accomplish?
I started out journaling about food so my kids would have a chronicle of or family's "food history" to look to. It was something I didn't have and always wanted, so I made sure to do it for them.
What blogging platform do you do and why?
Blogger. I started out there and stay because I really enjoy it. I a creature of habit and like things to stay the same.
What do you blog the most about?
Food! After food, it's family-since I have a really large one.
What kind of blogs make you angry?
Nothing but ads and those that have stolen content from elsewhere.
Give five of your best blogging tips.
Blog often. Be real. Use spellcheck. Write for yourself first. Don't sell out and write things you wouldn't normally write just to get hits.
What are some things you would NEVER blog about?
Too personal stuff, like money. I'm also not a gossip, so that's out.
Did you start blogging for the purpose of making money and if so, are you making enough money?
No. I don't keep ads on my personal blog, but I did get a job with WDIG blogging for Family.com, so that blog definitely brings me money!
How long have you been blogging?
2 1/2 years.
About how many hours per day do you spend blogging?
Between 2-5 depending on what I'm blogging about. With food, there's research, shopping, cooking, photos and THEN writing, so it can get very time-consuming.
Do you track RSS feeds and if so, how many do you usually track daily?
Yes, but not sure how many!
Do you use Digg, and why or why not?
Yes I do. I like seeing how other people are reacting to stories besides just the comments sections. With Digg it's easy to see just how many people enjoyed a post.
Do you use Stumbleupon, and why or why not?
Yes. I like the community aspect and I love stumbling to see other blogs I like.
What promotional techniques work best for you and why?
I don't use many. Word of mouth -er- link love (?) seems to work best.
If you could post a blog on any blog in the world, which one would it be and why?
My own! I have a loyal readership and I'm loyal myself to my own blog.
What mistakes have you made that you could warn others about?
Selling out by commenting to get comments. That took up so much time that I stopped. Now, if I really have something to say about a post, I'll comment.
