Let's Dish! Marysville Interview

By Interviewer at 02/05/09 08:07

Name of your website?

Let's Dish! Marysville

Your name?

Jim Mattson

Your Location (city, etc)

Marysville, WA 98271

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Our web site features our monthly menu and allows users to register and pay for a scheduled session to make 4, 8, or 12 meals at our commercial kitchen. Nutritional information, ingredients and weight watcher points are listed for each meal. Customers create accounts where they can rate meals based on their families' tastes.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

Our website is an integral part of our business, as it is the primary place where our customers sign up for dishing sessions in our kitchen. We also receive feedback from our customers using this site to plan future menus.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

We license the use of this website for our location from our corporate parent.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

The name was provided by our corporate parent.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

We offer our customers nutritional information including weight watcher points to help them select meals for their families.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

We hope earn income from our site, and perhaps sell our business to another eager owner.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

My wife and I co-own this business, and we have invested a significant amount of time and money in this venture. Our customers' praise and repeat buiness demonstrate our success.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would likely extend its capabilities to integrate e-marketing as well as back-office functions into it.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes. Our business is quite scalable.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Building out a retail space and meeting city and state requirements was a major headache.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Getting the word out to our customers of our products and services.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Direct mail coupons.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Very little difference.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

We began this venture in 2005 and likely will continue it for some time.

Do your products and services really save customers time and money?

Our customers avoid planning meals, and then shopping and chopping the required ingredients. We avoid much of the waste that most consumers experience when purchasing ingredients that sit in their pantry unused, or that are thrown away as spoiled. Let's Dish! saves our customers time and money!

What is your website address?
